Using double inclinometers to assess cervical flexion
This is an excerpt from Principles of Goniometry and Manual Muscle Testing With HKPropel Online Video by Abigail Shelley.

Patient position: Seated with back supported against a chair with cervical spine in a neutral position (a)
Clinician position: At the side of the patient
Inclinometers
- Over the spinous process of T1
- On the top of the head
- Zero both inclinometers
Stabilization: Stabilize the shoulder girdle and chest. This may be done with a strap or with patient cuing.
Test motion: Instruct the patient to bring their head forward without moving their trunk (b).
Measurement: Record the difference between the two inclinometers. The range of motion is the difference between the two readings once the neck is flexed.
