Continuing Education Policies
Continuing Education (CE) Policies
Human Kinetics will adhere to the Code of Ethics, appropriate language guidelines, copyright and conflict of interest policies of each of the organizations it partners with, as well as the below:
Approved Credit Values
Continuing education courses and exams require an approval and ongoing renewal process established by each accrediting organization. To ensure the approved CE value does not expire, Human Kinetics strongly recommends that you complete your exam within the calendar year of your date of purchase.
Human Kinetics cannot guarantee credit approval from your organization beyond the original calendar year of your date of purchase.
Course Material Access Duration
Your course materials will be accessible to you for 24 months from your original date of purchase.
For continuing education course or exam purchases with ebooks, your ebook will be accessible to you for 10 years from your original date of purchase when you create a VitalSource Bookshelf account to view it.
If you received an ebook with an online course and did not create a VitalSource Bookshelf account to view it, you may only access the ebook from the course for 24 months from the purchase date. See the FAQ on How do I locate an ebook for an Online Course or CE Exam for more details.
Copyright Policy and Procedure
Human Kinetics ensures proper documentation is obtained prior to course release that clearly demonstrates permission to use the material in the course. Human Kinetics will use a Speaker Release form if events are conducted that would require one. All permission management is handled and reviewed by our permissions manager(s). Program instructors and sponsors, when applicable, will be required to complete a Release Form stating the use of copyrighted materials prior to participating in the CE program.
Conflict of Interest Policy and Procedure
All individuals in a position to influence the content of a program to be offered for continuing education credits must disclose any relevant financial or nonfinancial relationship(s) that might affect independent involvement in the proposed program. Any speaker or planning committee member who refuses to disclose financial or nonfinancial relationships will be disqualified from participating in the planning and implementation of the program. Sponsors will be listed in promotional and program materials. No registered, trademarked or copyrighted material, products or techniques will be used within the program. CEUs will not be given for time if products are mentioned, or goods and services are promoted per the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) (www.accme.org) requirements.

Grievance Policy and Procedure
Human Kinetics is committed to conducting all activities in strict conformance with accreditation agencies and boards. Human Kinetics will comply with all responsibilities to be nondiscriminatory in activities, program content and in treatment of participants. Human Kinetics will provide participants with the ability to raise any complaints or concerns they may have. While Human Kinetics attempts to assure fair treatment of all participants, we recognize grievances that may require intervention. Grievances are handled in the following manner:
When a participant, either orally or in written format, files a grievance/complaint, the Continuing Education Committee (Division Director, Professional Education Manager, sales/marketing representative) will evaluate the nature of the complaint. If it is meritorious, the Continuing Education Committee will instruct the staff to implement any necessary changes in the course. The complainant will receive a response from the Professional Education Manager or designated staff within 5 working days.
Participants may file a complaint by telephone or email.
