OBJECTIVE
This drill focuses on developing fluid movement through the transition zone by combining forehand drops with a swinging volley attack, helping players develop rhythm, balance, and aggressive forward momentum during point play.
SETUP
- Set up target rings: 2 crosscourt at the NVZ line and 1 in the middle of the court in transition zone.
- Start at the baseline with 3 balls in hand.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Self-feed the 1st ball and hit a crosscourt forehand drop shot, moving forward.
- Self-feed the 2nd ball and hit another crosscourt forehand drop shot, continuing to move forward.
- Self-feed the 3rd ball and hit a swing volley attack aiming up the middle target.
- Repeat the sequence for multiple rounds—both directions crosscourt.
FOCUS POINTS
- Remember to progress forward after each shot—shot 1 from the baseline, shot 2 from the transition zone, and shot 3 from the NVZ.
- Emphasize a strong forward weight transfer to naturally move up the court.
- Maintain smooth momentum and follow-through toward your target with each swing to reinforce direction, balance, and purposeful movement.
