  • Discuss the body image back story: how we got to where we are.
  • Discuss current research and key social shifts regarding body image.
  • Identify skills for building a positive body image.
  • Outline techniques for coaching a person toward healthy body image.
  • Identify the role positive psychology plays in creating a healthy body image.

"When putting people on programs in the weight room I always reinforce the important of health and fitness over pounds to lose. Because of this course I feel more comfortable talking about body image to clients, and I am now more aware of how body image affects us all in one way or another. This is great information that can be used with all ages."

L. Carvalho—Osoyoos, Canada

“This was my first time participating in a webinar, and I really enjoyed it. The facilitator was on point from start to finish. Thanks for offering a course that I can use on a daily basis not only for my clients but for myself as well. This course will assist my clients who have not exercised in ages.”

D. Morton—Milwaukee, WI

"I train a women-only boot camp class, and my philosophy is to leave negativity at the front door. I will use the tools I learned in this webinar to go further and foster more positive thought processes toward a healthier body image. I obtained more insight and better ideas on women’s body images and the differences between men’s and women’s bodies."

A. Jones—Gurnee, IL

"I gained a better knowledge of helping my clients improve their body image. I work with less-fit clients just starting to exercise or getting back into it, so I will have ample opportunity to use body image support!"

M. Becker—Aurora, CO

"I will coordinate an on-campus event about this topic with strategies on communicating and motivating participants who may have poor body image and self-confidence. In addition, I will present this information to my personal trainers and group fitness instructors, offering ways to motivate and interact with clients about self-esteem and body image."

C. Russell—Eugene, OR

"This is a very good presentation. I can use this psychological approach to focus on the good points, building confidence and hopefully an attitude to get them to reach their goals. This helps clients rethink the positive aspects instead of focusing on the negative ones."
