Peggy A. Houglum, PhD, is a retired associate professor at the Rangos School of Health Sciences at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. She has over 50 years of experience as a certified athletic trainer and licensed physical therapist, providing patient and athletic care in a variety of settings, including university athletic training facilities, sports medicine clinics, rehabilitation hospitals, acute care hospitals, burn care centers, and extended care facilities. She also served as an athletic trainer with the United States Olympic Festivals, Olympic Games, and World University Games. She has had 25 years of teaching experience in athletic training and physical therapy programs in bachelor’s degree and advanced degree programs. She has served on several national committees for the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) in the areas of education and continuing education, and she has served the Board of Certification (BOC) as an examiner, program reviewer, and Role Delineation Task Force member. She was the first woman to serve as an associate editor for Athletic Training, has served on other journal boards, has been invited to speak on the topic of sports medicine rehabilitation at national and international conferences, received the Therapy Times award for the Most Influential Rehabilitation Professional in Physical Therapy, and has been inducted into the NATA Hall of Fame.

Kristine L. Boyle-Walker, MPT, OCS, ATC, CHT, is the assistant director of physical therapy at the Orthopaedic Specialty Institute in Orange, California. She also serves as a part-time faculty member at California State University–Fullerton in the department of kinesiology. She has over 30 years of experience as an athletic trainer, physical therapist, and instructor in both subject areas. She has served on several national committees for the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) in the areas of education and continuing education and has served on several committees for the Far West Athletic Trainers’ Association (FWATA) in the area of continuing education. She has presented nationally and internationally on topics related to musculoskeletal rehabilitation. She was inducted into the FWATA Hall of Fame in 2019. She was awarded the NATA Continuing Education Excellence Award in 2012 and their Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award in 2011.

Daniel E. Houglum, MSPT, ATC, PRC, is a licensed physical therapist and certified athletic trainer. He has been practicing since 1999 and teaches continuing education courses—including courses on myokinematic restoration, postural respiration, and impingement and instability—for the Postural Restoration Institute. He opened his own physical therapy business in 2016 and provides care for patients with chronic pain as well as elite-level athletes with sport-related injuries. He was named the Five Star Professional Top Physical Therapist in Chicago for 2014 and 2015, and he was a recipient of the Postural Restoration Institute Director’s Dedication Award in 2019.
