The use of performance monitoring systems in athletic training has grown due to technological advances. Practitioners who work with athletes from high school to elite levels in a range of sports use these systems to observe athlete data, including exercise intensity, athletic fitness, and body responses. Monitoring Training and Performance in Athletes is a compilation of evidence-based guidelines and best practices for athlete monitoring. You’ll learn how to implement monitoring systems and collect, analyze, and interpret data that result in training adjustments to optimize performance.

Author Mike McGuigan, an award-winning sport scientist, blends research-based concepts with practical application strategies for monitoring training and performance in athletes. You’ll learn to monitor body stress, biochemical markers, and hormonal responses; find out about reliability of modern methods, such as wearable technology and questionnaires; and understand how to interpret data to modify training programs in real time. You’ll find guidelines, approaches, and solutions for challenges in athlete monitoring for individual and team sports, as well as suggestions for integrating monitoring with coaching.

Real-world examples assist with understanding the cutting-edge, evidence-based research on athlete monitoring. Full-color illustrations and photographs provide a visual interpretation of the information presented. An accompanying study guide helps solidify learning from each chapter.

Monitoring Training & Perf in Athl

Course was well laid out with review materials. Exam provided so you could work on it prior to taking it officially.
Really liked the chapter reviewing statistics.
Would have been helpful to have a chapter that outlined several of the different wearable technology products, what they can do, what is beneficial and what is not very helpful. This would probably have to be updated regularly but would be a nice addition to the course.
