After completing this course, you will be able to do the following:
    • Define the term posture and provide examples of factors that affect posture.
    • Give two reasons for carrying out a postural assessment and provide examples of the kinds of clients for whom postural assessment is not appropriate.
    • List some of the equipment that may be helpful to have when carrying out a postural assessment and describe how a plumb line is used.
    • Give examples of what to look for when assessing a client from standing posterior, lateral, and anterior views as well as for a client in a seated position. State the possible consequences of your observations with respect to muscles and joints.
Developed for practitioners of massage therapy, physical therapy, osteopathy, chiropractic, sports medicine, athletic training, and fitness instruction, Postural Assessment Print CE Course is a guide to determining muscular or fascial imbalance and whether that imbalance contributes to a patient’s or client’s pain or dysfunction.

Postural Assessment Print CE Course breaks down the complex and holistic process of assessing posture into easy-to-assimilate sections. Learners will find discussion of the ideal posture and the factors affecting posture as well as how to provide the correct environment for postural assessment, necessary equipment, and the importance of documenting assessment findings. Then, learners will discover procedures for executing postural assessments from standing posterior, lateral, and anterior views as well as with the patient or client in a seated position.

Information in the accompanying course text is enhanced with detailed illustrations that offer visual cues to learning postural assessment and identifying anatomical relationships. Line drawings illustrate bony landmarks used in the assessments, and numerous photos show both obvious and subtle postural variations. Reproducible illustrated postural assessment charts in the appendix of the text provide space for recording observations during each step of the assessment.

The course study guide contains course instructions, a syllabus, learning objectives, end-of-chapter review questions, and a referenced answer key to prepare learners for the exam at the conclusion of the course. The final exam consists of 75 multiple-choice questions that address concepts throughout the course materials. Upon passing the exam, individuals may print out and submit a certificate for continuing education credits.

Postural Assessment Print CE Course can assist practitioners in learning what posture reveals about the relationships among various body parts and in determining whether such relationships cause or contribute to pain or discomfort. As a resource for novices, Postural Assessment Print CE Course offers guidance in observing and identifying common postural forms and interpreting those observations.
