The course is supplemented by the Coaching Youth Baseball ebook—written by Babe Ruth League, Inc.—which is included in the price of the online course. As you progress through the course, you’ll be prompted to read chapters to complete course activities.
The course features numerous interactive exercises that apply and enliven concepts from the book. The first unit, Stepping Into Coaching, provides the underpinnings for being a successful coach—before even stepping on the diamond. You’ll learn your responsibilities as coach; the five tools of an effective coach; the importance of having a coaching philosophy; and how to communicate effectively with your athletes, parents, and other coaches. The focus then shifts to ensuring player safety, including injury prevention and treatment protocols. The course concludes with technical and tactical skill instruction for all facets of baseball.
The course includes a handy Coaches’ Clipboard that houses the various forms, documents, checklists, and season and practice plans introduced throughout the course. A 30-question online test is at the end of the course. After successful completion of the course, you can print a certificate of course completion from the website to document your achievement.
