The NSCA-CPT® and CSCS® certifications are widely recognized as the esteemed credentials for personal trainers and strength and conditioning professionals in the United States and increasingly around the world. The National Strength and Conditioning Association and Human Kinetics have jointly developed two online courses to help candidates study and prepare for the NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS) examinations.
Each course will help candidates develop their knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to prepare for either the NSCA-CPT or CSCS examination and works in tandem with a cornerstone textbook. The courses cover the following:
- Content that reflects the weighting and scope of each exam
- Varying levels of recall, application, and analysis
- Interactive learning activities (120+ for NSCA-CPT, 160+ for CSCS)
- On-the-job duties and responsibilities of NSCA-CPT and CSCS professionals
- An end of course exam that mimics the scope and difficulty of the actual exam
The NSCA-CPT course is supplemented by the book NSCA’s Essentials of Personal Training, Third Edition, while the CSCS course is supplemented with Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning, Fourth Edition. Written by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, these texts also serve as valuable professional references after the course is completed.
Current NSCA-certified professionals who complete either course and pass the test can also earn continuing education units (CEUs) to apply toward recertification, including CEUs for the "Recertify with Distinction" program.
